The Ski Sled

On the non-mountainous portion of Canada’s Boreal Forest, it’s easier to pull a load than carry it. The snow in the woods is deep and soft. If the load is on your back, you post-hole in the snow. Snowshoes are an obvious necessity, or skis, but even then you go in too deep.
Making distance is usually easier if you have a sled or toboggan that pulls easily in your snow-shoe track. That’s why the Cree evolved their fine toboggan design.
But there are other options, and I’ve experimented with quite a few over the last 40 years. Here’s a video about that:
